Sunday Share

Good morning friends.  It's Sunday and we are back with another edition of Sunday Share.  Thank you to our two players from the last Sunday Share who shared their lovely work with us.
Random.org has selected one of you as our winner and it is #1 Connie Willis who used lots of goodies that she purchased from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Connie shared with us her first art journal page where she has dipped her toes into the world of mixed media.
Congratulations Connie.  I think Connie might have a lengthy wish list for shopping at The Funkie Junkie Boutique and I know she has been hoping to win the 25% discount shopping spree!  Connie, please contact me at thefunkiejunkie@gmail.com to claim your prize.  And thanks again to Yvonne, who is one of our regulars at Sunday Share, for sharing her lovely work with us.

Saturday StepXStep

Hi Everyone!
It’s Rebecca here and it’s my turn for a Saturday Step by Step at the Frilly and Funky Challenge Blog.  You know by now, that I’m a dedicated romantic..hardly a funky bone in my body, so I reached for some of my favorites from the Funky Junky Boutique.  A resin wreath, mini flash cards and a flower adorned hanger from Melissa Frances along with some of the prettiest paper ever from Pion.  Grab a cuppa and I’ll tell you about this project…
Rebecca F&F-1
I wanted to create a Birthday Tag instead of a birthday card.  It began with some of these sweet little cards...
Rebecca F&F-2
and a white, resin wreath.  I chose the message I wanted and adhered it to the back of the wreath, using a bit that was cut off to fill in an empty space at the top..hardly noticeable from the front!
Rebecca F&F-3
For color on this lovely wreath, I reached for Copic markers…
Rebecca F&F-4
They work beautifully on any of the Melissa Frances resin embellishments…
Rebecca F&F-5
The effect reminds me of the antique Kate Greenway illustrations…
Rebecca F&F-6
From a lovely sheet of patterned paper, I selected a corner of the design and cut the inner layer of the tag, mounted it on some pale blue and then some linen colored card stock.  a few inches of the linen color was left at the bottom of the tag for the next step…
Rebecca F&F-7
This lovely appliqué was adhered onto the card stock and then the excess trimmed away.  Having the card stock behind it, gives it a stiffness that helps it to hang neatly and the color contrast shows off the detail…
Rebecca F&F-8
Once again, I used Copic markers to add some colorful detail to the appliqué.  I colored the small blue flowers and then using a ‘blender’ pen, removed some of the ink from the centers.  On the larger flowers, they were first colored with the medium pink and then some darker pink was added to the centers.  I suggest you practice on some lacy scraps.  It really is quite simple once you’ve tried a flower or two…
Rebecca F&F-9
Using some hand dyed seam binding, I made two separate double bows and attached them at nearly right angles at the top of the wreath.  The sweet little hanger finishes off this tag, which is only awaiting a handwritten sentiment in the empty space.
Thanks for stopping by~ Hope you have a lovely weekend.
*Hugs*,
Rebecca

Friday Focus - Kraft Goodies

Hi everyone and welcome back to another Friday Focus column.  Linda here and this week we are highlighting kraft products.  Everything in the boutique that is made with brown kraft paper will be part of our Friday Focus 15% off sale.

I really love the warm country feel that projects made with kraft paper gives me, from corrugated cardboard all the way to the more sophisticated feel of Tim Holtz's kraft core and kraft resist papers.  Here's a little wall hanging I created using the corrugated cardboard that I sell in the boutique as a base.
I used the Butterfly On-the-Edge die as well as the Distressed Doily die to make the top edge and the free hanging bottom section.  Everything was given a brush of Picket Fence crackle paint. The flower was cut from the kraft colored corrugated cardboard plus one layer from the white corrugated cardboard.
The flower sections were cut using both the Tattered Florals and Mini Tattered Florals movers and shapers and were sponged on the edges with Vintage Photo DI and then coated lightly with Enamelware EP.

The backing for the floral resin medallion was also sponged with Vintage Photo and embossed with Enamelware EP.  The "enjoy the journey" was cut with the Artful Stacked Words decorative strip die from Kraft Core paper and lightly sanded with my Sanding Grip to reveal the kraft core.
I've provided thumbnail links to The Funkie Junkie Boutique for all the products used here that I sell.  And be sure to check out our Friday Focus section.  The kraft paper products will be on sale for one full week from Friday through the following Thursday.  PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT I WILL BE TAKING A FEW DAYS OFF AND WILL NOT BE SHIPPING ORDERS FROM APRIL 29TH THROUGH MAY 7TH so order soon if you don't want to wait until I get back.

Upcycle for Earth Day

Hello friends of Frilly and Funkie,  So glad to have you back with us today to see what our talented designers have put together for their interpretation of Upcycle for Earth Day.  Yes, I know Earth Day was Monday, but as far as I'm concerned we should cherish and protect our earth and live every day repurposing things instead of trasking them!  And judging by what our very talented designers have done with this theme, I would say they agree with me.  We hope you will share a repurposed or recycled project with us this week! (all the challenge details can be found in the Week #1 post below).

**********Week #1 Post**********

Greetings friends of Frilly and Funkie,

We are so happy you are with us today as we kick off another two week challenge.  Linda here hosting this fortnight's challenge which is Upcycle for Earth Day.  I'm a big fan of recycling, maybe even a fanatic if you ask my family, and I always try to live my life in a conservation mode.  Earth Day is April 2oth this year which is just a few days away so I thought it would be good to encourage you to use something you would otherwise throw away for your craft project this time around.  We have some great projects from our DT to get your mojo jumping:

Sue Carrington - Stamping Sue Style

Whatever your vintage style, Frilly or Funkie, you are welcome to play along with our vintage inspired challenge. You may upload your project at any time. If using a public forum, please use keyword F&F. Please be sure to provide a link back to our challenge in your post. Please please please be sure to turn off your Word Verification so our design team can leave comments on your blogs. And don't forget, you can only play in 4 other challenges besides ours. We had a few entries that didn't qualify last time because they had entered too many challenges. From now on, we will be deleting those entries.
