Funkie Junkie Boutique Update

Hello everyone,

I wanted to give you a couple updates on the boutique.  First let me thank all of you for being such loyal readers of Frilly and Funkie and extra big thanks if you have ordered from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  My little Zibbet shop continues to grow and I am truly blessed to hear from so many of you that you enjoy shopping with me.  Just a heads up so you can plan your orders accordingly - I will be closing the shop for two weeks from July 18th through August 1st as I will be traveling to attend to some family matters.

The other update concerns the full set of the Dylusions sprays.  Anita did such a fantastic video tutorial plus the great sale price, all the sets have been scooped up.  I will order more, but Ranger is out of commission all next week and then of course will be majorly backlogged after being closed so I don't know if they will arrive before I leave on July 18th.  If you would like to reserve a full set at the Friday Focus 15% discount price, you can do so by emailing me at thefunkiejunkie@gmail.com.

Again, thank you all for your visits, comments and participation in our challenges.

Blessings & hugs
Linda

Saturday StepXStep

Terry here and I do apologize for being so late!  This is a tag I created and had many people ask about the butterflies.  I did a technique very close to Tim's "Shattered Stains," but used Color Washes.  I really did love the effect and hope you will also!  For more details on this tag, please click here!
For my "Crackled" buttterflies, I folded a piece of grunge paper in half and cut.  Then I painted on the Rock Candy Crackle, let it dry.
Once dry I used Tim's water brush to paint on the color in layers until the color I wanted was achieved.
I did give this a light heat tool drying in between color applications.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  This week in The Funkie Junkie Boutique, a complete set of Dylusions Sprays are on sale for $38.25.

Friday Focus - Dylusions Ink Sprays

Hello avid crafters and F&F lovers! Anita Houston here, and it's time for another Friday Focus, but it's a little different today. Okay....a lot different! It's via video and it's my very first, so please bear with me. It's quite lengthy at just over 15 minutes, but I am showing you five easy techniques for using your Dyan Reaveley's Dylusion Ink Sprays. So get a cuppa and please enjoy! ***Note: Please ignore the ringing phone!!!

This is the finished Art Journal cover. You can see more pictures on my blog as well.
These two tags were the ones I used to sop up the extra ink. I added a little Distress Ink to finish the backgrounds up.
Now here is a heck of a deal! A full set of Dylusions are $45 at the Funkie Junkie Boutique, but since they are the Friday Focus, you get an extra 15% off this week...wow!!! And...the new Summer Distress Inks are in as well, so I hope your pay day is soon!!! Happy crafting everyone!

Sunday Share

Welcome back to another week of Sunday Share.  I'm so excited because we had six people link up their projects made with items from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I think that's the most ever and I want to thank everyone who shared their work with us this past week on Sunday Share.  I always get so excited to see what people have made with items from my boutique!  This week, Random.org has selected entry #3 Lisa Minckler as the winner of the 25% off shopping coupon for The Funkie Junkie boutique.
25% off my already low prices (Ranger products are already discounted 20%) means some great savings for Lisa and all she had to do to be eligible to win the coupon was to link up a project she had made using something from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
Here's the uber cool piece of work that Lisa shared with us.  I see a rusty bottle cap and some white/ivory burlap that Lisa purchased during one of her shopping expeditions at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  CONGRATULATIONS LISA!!!  I have a hunch that Lisa is going to be getting a great price on that Word Play die she's had her eye on!

I want to invite all of you to share your art made using items from TFJ here on Sunday Share.  What is Sunday Share all about? Since this blog is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, I want to have a place where my customers can share what they have made with items from the boutique. It's a linky party and you can share any creation here that has not been previously been shared here at Sunday Share. It does not need to be a new project but you cannot share the same thing here more than once. If you need some guidance in knowing how to share your work here, read this post and let us know if you need further assistance. To be eligible, just share with us something you have made with items from the boutique and provide a link in your post toThe Funkie Junkie Boutique so others can check out all the great offerings and awesome prices!

Each Sunday Share will run from 5:00 a.m. ET until midnight on Saturday night. We will do a random drawing of all the entires that week and the winner will receive a coupon to shop with a 25% discount at the shop. This is our little way of rewarding those who shop at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. What are you waiting for. I know lots of you have already purchased items from The Funkie Junkie Boutique. Link them up here - it's a great opportunity to share your work with us and you just might shop next time for 25% OFF!

Thanks again to all who joined us for Sunday Share last week!

Saturday StepXStep: Rolled Flowers

Happy weekend to all of our Frilly and Funkie readers, it is Teresa and I am sharing how to make rolled flowers.  You can use just about anything you can roll, it would be fun to use things you would not normally think of using.  I have used burlap and fabric for my card today.
I took the piece of burlap and fold it over, I cut off the frayed edges.  You can cut it any length you want, the longer the burlap/fabric the larger your flower.

I ran a stitching down the side, but you can use Scor-Tape to adhere the material too.  The Scor-Tape will make your fabric thicker, keep this in mind when deciding which way you will adhere.  I did not want my flower to be any thicker since the burlap is thick so I stitched it.
I used a Gluber dot to roll my burlap unto, twisting and tuning any way you want.  That is the beauty of making these flowers, you can't go wrong.  I have also used a small circled piece of card stock and glued as I went too.  I have not done that since the Glubers came out though, much easier!
I prepare the base of my card; distressing and stitching.  I lay my card out on my work table and piece it all together, making changes as it comes together.
Again, here is everything before adhering down and still figuring out the placement of all my embellies...the fun and exciting part!
Here is a close up of the tiny fabric flowers, I used black seam binding for the leaves.  You can see all the shabby goodness in the flowers and ribbon.

Here is my completed card and all the awesome Funkie Junkie Boutique  items I used on my card.  Be sure to check out the items that are discounted even more this week, you can find them here.  I hope your weekend is full of creating time, don't forget to leave a little time for shopping!

Friday Focus - VINTAJ Metals and Patinas

Greetings friends!  Please excuse the delay in getting our Friday Focus up today!  I have to admit I was so wrapped up in watching the Miami Heat win the NBA title last night that I completely forgot that today was Friday and that I needed to get my post done and also set the Friday Focus discount up at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I was thrilled this week when my long back-ordered Vintaj embossing folders showed up in my Ranger shipment.  Now I have all you need to get started in embossing and applying patinas to metals, including all the patina sets, a number of lovely brass charms plus the glaze and reliefing block.  And as the Friday Focus product, they will be discounted another 15% over my already-low prices.

I'm taking the easy way out and NOT reinventing the wheel.  There are a couple of great videos out on using these products.  If you haven't already watched these, take a look.  Lots of fun stuff here.

Sizzix video on using the Sizzix embossing folders

Vintaj video on using the patinas and glaze

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoy the Vintaj videos.  Even if you don't want to purchase the products, I think can get a lot of fun ideas from watching them.  You can use alcohol inks in place of the patinas, but it is recommended that you use the Vintaj sealer over it because the alcohol ink will wear off.

Inspiration Photo Challenge

Hello friends, we're back with Week 2 of our photo inspiration challenge.  Thanks so much to all of you who have already joined in our challenge.  There's still a whole week to go and we hope to see your work in our linky line-up.
Here's our inspiration photo.  This week our Funkie design team has pulled out all the stops to slam your mojo into high gear!  So whatever your vintage style,  Funkie, Frilly or anywhere in between, we'd love to have you join our challenge and link up some sort of project inspired by this photo.

Linda Coughlin - The Funkie Junkie

Marjie Kemper - She Who Stamps and Scraps

Terry Horrall - Terry's Work In Progress

Anita Houston - The Artful Maven Haven

Here's our Week 1 Frilly post for this challenge:

Hello Frilly and Funkie friends.  I hope your summer is getting off to a great start.  So happy you could spare a few minutes today to stop by to see what our latest challenge is all about.  A huge thank you to everyone who played along with our last challenge.  We're having so much fun with the challenges here at Frilly and Funkie and hope that you are too.
Linda here to host the challenge for this fortnight.  It's an inspiration photo challenge and you can interpret it any way you like.  I came across this gorgeous photo while looking for inspiration to create this challenge and just could not resist it.  I live in south Florida and we have a pair of Amazon parrots in our neighborhood who roost in an area about a block from my house and we see them fly over in the morning and in the evening.  They are huge and it is such an incredible sight to see.

We hope you will take some inspiration from this photo to create some sort of vintage style project for our challenge.  Whatever your vintage style, frilly or funkie or somewhere in between, you can upload your project any time during the two weeks our challenge is running.

This week our Frilly team has inspiration to offer and next Wednesday our Funkie team will be joining in with their takes on the challenge.

Linda Coughlin - The Funkie Junkie

Sue Carrington - Stamping Sue Style

Tammy Roberts - Paperie Sweetness

Teresa Kline-Paperie Blooms

Our challenge offers two opportunities for prizes - a random drawing for a $15 gift certificate to shop at The Funkie Junkie Boutique and a best project competition, judged by the voting of the design team members. The Funkie Favorite winner receives a winner's badge to display on their blog sidebar.

Thanks again for stopping by. Be sure to pay us a visit next Wednesday to gather more inspiration, this time from our Funkie designers.
